Yeah, but what all the tree huggers and other enviro nuts very convieniently ignore is the carbon footprint that is attached to these cars (I know you have to start somewhere but...), the production and transport of the batteries alone, let alone the eventual recyling issuse-which is generally ignored for the presesnt- has a massive footprint, exceeding that of a Hummer! So stay with our old girls, they're carbon positive! 40 years since production and still going strong

So true!!
When it comes to the carbon footprint it seems like that the only thing that counts
is what comes out of the tail pipe!!
I think it was MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that carried out a research
on how much the different cars polluted from the start of their lives and to they was recycled
based on an average life mileage.
The worst cars was the hybrids, second worst was electric cars.
Top two was Chevy and Ford pickup trucks.
This due to simple construction, little energy to make them, and most of them was recyclable
and not special waste like batteries, electrical motors and so on!!
If you tell this to the "do gooders" they say you are crazy.
I can live with that!!

Anything that does more than 4 x 20mpg has got to be good for daily drivers. We would be playing different tune if our classic V8s were our daily's
