Arizona, the first US state to introduce speed cameras, have had them axed by their Republican Governor, as motorists claimed they were introduced only as a state revenue-generation tool & many refused to pay the fines - that's solidarity for you!

Scary stuff!!.....looking into a steel divider next week as well as a tank armour.

What about the rear parcel shelf on a coupe, surely that would let the spray in as well as it's normally only made of hardboard.

Looks like I will be making a new parcel shelf as well then......

There's also this one, no price listed and no capacity either. I'm with you on a larger tank too.

While I was spending time on leccy fuel pumps, lines etc. I did become more conscious of tank area. Intend doing something about it.  I've even started wearing a seat belt, however, maybe getting thrown clear would be better in a rear end smash Shocked
Seriously tho' the cars we love could hurt us big time. Wink

I don't feel the tank armour would help much. If hit from the rear the armour would not stop it from splitting and would not stop fuel spray. Also as Graham pointed out the parcel shelf is only fibre board. The only way would be to have a armoured fuel cell and a reinforced devider behind the rear seat. The only problem I see is if you do all this and (God forbid) it fails in an accident will you be held liable for any injurys as you have modified from standard. This problem would be the same for any rear mounted fuel tank....most old cars. This is why most fuel tanks are located infront of the rear axle.

Some good points there, would you rather burn your rear passengers like chicken drumsticks on a BBQ or chop them with the tank armor flying into the car?

The amount of stuff in your boot would easily disapate any energy from a rear impact on your car. I wolud be more worried about the tea urn on the back seat. Grin
